United Ways across the country do some great work around Mental Health advocacy. Steven Berbeco, from United Way of Northwest Vermont, will be our guest on “Shining Light on Shadows: A Candid Conversation About Mental Health.” We’ll learn about the great work they’re doing on Thursday October 17 at 7pm ET / 6pm CT / 4pm PT. Dawn Helmrich, who works at United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County is my co-host.
If you can’t watch the show live, you can watch the recording at your convenience on this website. The show will also be available on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and Instagram. Those links will be added shortly.

United Way of Northwest Vermont’s Mental Health Initiative focuses on
Addressing Vermont’s critical labor shortage of mental health providers;
Strengthening and aligning resources for suicide prevention; and
Responding to the acute rise in youth mental health needs.
They have had their biggest successes around Mental Health First Aid, Youth Mental Health, Therapy, and Suicide prevention.
Dawn will also share some of the work that her United Way is doing in the area of Mental Health, with a particular focus on teens.
Dawn and I launched this twice a month show (the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month) in order to help reduce the stigma associated with mental health. In the coming weeks and months, we’ll be joined by friends and colleagues who are working through or have worked through their own challenges, practitioners who can speak to some of the issues faced by their clients and advocates who can talk about a range of different issues.
The show is produced by Digimentors on a pro bono basis.
