Our Wesleyan University Love Story

Writer's picture: Neil ParekhNeil Parekh

Yesterday was #ValentinesDay. I started working on this post towards the end of the day but then put it down so we could go out to dinner. I almost finished it last night, but opted to spend time with Pam and Emily...Hence, the day-late post.

Pam and I have been together for thirty-one years, going back to my Junior Year and her Sophomore year at Wesleyan. We actually met at WesWings in September, 1993. (Alas, the exact date has been lost to history.) I love telling the story of how we met. In fact, the Wesleyan University Alumni account shared our #WesLove story two years ago for Valentine's Day. It was definitely a #LifeHighlight. WesWings shared that story again on their account yesterday.

Wesleyan has always been an important part of our life. We’ve gone to reunions, stopped by campus a number of times (it helps that Pam’s family lives nearby) and most importantly, some of our closest friends are people we’ve known since school.

In fact, at our wedding, of the twenty or so people who traveled to Victoria, British Columbia for our  destination wedding (one that I planned), half were Wesleyan Alumni or their spouses.

A lot has happened over the past thirty-one years since we were at Wesleyan.

I still love Pam and I still love Wesleyan.

P.S. Pam giving me permission to share this on social media is her biggest Valentine’s Day gift to me.
